Who We Are

We love the Med City, and we're excited to share it's unique attractions with you!

Alex is originally from a small town called Reedsburg, near Wisconsin Dells. Emily is a Rochester native, and returned home after college. Alex was fortunate enough to have met her while they both attended Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin. Alex followed Emily over to Rochester where they found out they were a great pair. We have since weathered a long distance relationship while Alex attended Physician Assistant school and multiple major highs and lows on the crazy roller coaster of life. Our family has now grown to include Rory and Poppy, our amazing goldendoodles! They have allowed us to identify ourselves as #TeamPoodles. We are huge goofs and try to bring as much joy and passion to not only our relationship, but to those around us!

Why We Chose to Host Short Term Rentals

Emily has a passion for design, and Alex has an interest in real estate and remodeling. We both spent a little too much time watching HGTV with our parents while growing up, which helped us prepare for this venture to create unique spaces to share with others. Emily first considered short-term rentals when she began working with transplant patients, who are required to stay in town for several weeks after surgery.

We were very fortunate to have the whole family involved as we renovated our space. Emily’s dad was the main carpenter, and Emily’s mom the main painter. Alex’s parents made many weekend trips from Wisconsin to offer a hand.

Being away from home for appointments, surgeries, or even school and internships can be stressful. We hope that our home provides a space to relax and restore your body and soul. We have incorporated art pieces, trinkets, and books to offer peace, positivity and hope to all who enter.

We hope to build a community of friendship and lasting relationships with all of our guests! If you want to spend some time with us during your stay and meet our puppy Rory, we can make it happen! Welcome to Dharma Dwellings, thanks for taking the time to read about us!

We have stayed at Dharma Dwelling homes many times (5 to 10 I would guess). Their homes are very welcoming as well as super convenient. They are very near the Rochester Rec Center if you are coming for sports. There is lots of space to spread out, a fully stocked kitchen with all the necessary pots and pans, nice shampoo and conditioner, up to date appliances, good internet and movies, and a generally cozy home. Alex is very responsive to questions as well as very accommodating to all our weird check-in and check-out time requests. We highly recommend these properties and hosts.

The Dharma Dwelling properties in Rochester are easily the best places to stay while in Rochester for vacation, state parks, or visits to Mayo Clinic! Alex and Emily are fantastic owners and are friendly and responsive. The houses are very comfortable, constantly updated, and have great features. I have stayed in three of their properties and all three have been in the top tier of short/long term rentals. The neighborhood is super cozy and safe, and is close to downtown/Mayo and a short drive to great nature. If you need a place to stay in Rochester, look no further!

We stayed at Dharma Dwellings for a week during a National USTA competition. Two families party of 8. The house was clean, nice, and accommodating. The area was very nice with lots to do! My family and I have stayed at Dharma Dwellings twice now and soon to be a third time. They are the perfect location for our Mayo visits. The house is always clean and ready for us when we arrive. Alex and Emily communicate to us quickly. They provide a great list of attractions and things to do. Their house is cozy and has become a comfort during treatments. We appreciate them both for being so accommodating to our needs! Definitely recommend staying at Dharma Dwellings!

We have stayed in three different Dharma Dwellings houses during our bi-monthly trips to Mayo Clinic! We LOVE staying at their properties! The houses are all well stocked, comfortable beds and bedding, all houses are decorated beautifully, lots of natural lighting, and in amazing locations for a quick commute to Mayo and downtown. There are so many thoughtful touches to their properties, we notice something new each trip and appreciate all of the attention to details they put into their houses! The hosts are VERY responsive and easily to communicate with and really provide a top notch experience! When you come to Rochester, book one of Dharma Dwellings properties. You won’t regret it!!

Poppy's Paradise has a special place in our hearts after a long term stay in Dec. The house was clean, cozy, and very comfortable for a month long stay. It is situated in an adorable neighborhood on a quiet street. There is garage access, which is very important in December in MN. The kitchen is very functional and appliances are very new. The extra downstairs living space was amazing for working remotely and working out! Hosts are absolutely amazing...kind, responsive, and flexible. Planning on returning in Feb for another amazing stay!
